revdorothyl: missmurchsion made this (Moving Nausicaa)

And to help keep me motivated, I have a lovely new icon made for me by [livejournal.com profile] missmurchison from the few "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds" images I was able to scrounge up. Love that Miss M! And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] keswindhover also, for reminding me of how much I've been wanting a new Hayao Miyazaki icon or two.

Meanwhile, I just got my butt kicked in Scrabble for the second week in a row (my opponent used all her letters in one play, first off, and then she put her "J" on a triple letter score AND a triple word score, all of which I'd thoughtfully set up for her -- after that, I had to use all my wiles just to narrow the gap to over 30 points, losing 333 to her 367), so I'm already up much later than I usually like to be. I dragged the game out as long as I could, 'til almost midnight, hoping for a miracle, and I'm always too wired when I get home from the game to go right to sleep. Plus, there's the issue of menstrual cramps which started this evening while I was far from my ibuprofen. Normally at this point, I throw back a glass or two of dry sherry for purely medicinal purposes (muscle relaxant, you know) while waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in. But I won't be doing THAT tonight! Maybe by next month the memory of my Sunday night stupidity will have faded enough to allow for a couple of drinks, but that is NOT tonight.

So, instead of numbing myself, I'm going out of my way to be good, paying bills on-line and writing and sending off a final exam for one of my students who has to take it tomorrow, instead of on Friday with the rest of the class. I even threw in a bunny question or two for her, just to be EXTRA good and nice tonight (cussing out my Scrabble opponent doesn't count as lack of niceness -- she'd be disappointed if I didn't get upset and mutter darkly about knowing how to dispose of a body should the need arise, when she scored over sixty points with one word).

Okay, I'm feeling so much better now (either the ibuprofen is kicking in, or virtue really IS its own reward -- or possibly I'm starting to wind down and be less tense, which never hurts) that I think I'll actually be able to sleep!

Good night, all!
