Somehow I missed
beatrice_otter's July 19th post recommending a wonderful, humorous, very well-done short fanfic set in Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan universe.
In case any of you LMB fans on my f-list also missed that rec and that story, be sure to check out The Maiden of the Lake, Feminist Icon? A Critique, By Olivia Koudelka.
It's hilarious both from a Vorkosiverse character development perspective (foreshadowing certain events in the later books) AND from the perspective of anyone who’s ever had to write a literature paper in Middle School (I'm guestimating) OR had to read and grade those sorts of papers.
I can’t decide whether to be sad or amused about the fact that even at such a relatively young age Olivia Koudelka seems to have written a better paper than some of my university students!
