Somehow it always shifts from "I prefer this pairing", "That couple pushes my buttons", "They should *so* be doing it"....to "Something is wrong with you if you don't agree with me", "The creators/writers *owe* me this pairing". And suddenly it's not about what floats *your* boat...but a moral judgement on people in kayaks. So if your pairing is confirmed on screen, it's proof that you are the better person. No small wonder hurt feelings, hurled accusations, and kerfuffles ensue.

I think any major Spuffy/Bangel wars were avoided by the slash/Spuffy explosion...but yes, on the sidelines in smaller ways it's been contributing to the tension IMO, and the Ducks are claiming it as a "victory". I have nightmare inducing fears of the wars that could explode if SMG makes a guest appearance on Angel.
