( brief foreword on that personal/professional crisis )
Meanwhile, I'm feeling awfully grateful that there were new episodes of Bones and House last night for me to tape and look forward to watching when I had a breathing space today -- not to mention the new episode of NCIS, which I watched last night and found both adorable (the little boy who was a mini-Gibbs! Gibbs showing off his fatherhood skills! Awwwww!) and ethically alarming ( NCIS plot spoiler )
And is it just me, that I'm so desperately in need of a pleasant distraction that almost anything looks good, or were last night's episodes of Bones and House particularly entertaining? I thought the chemistry between the leads on Bones was really coming together in a very amusing way, not to mention the actual subplot with the supporting characters. What FUN!
And darned if I didn't find House's character even more obnoxious and more fascinating than usual last night, plus that really interesting theme of how everybody really does treat everybody else differently, based on their perceptions of them, whether those perceptions have any resemblance to reality or not. And I'm liking the latest evolution in the relationship between House and the ever-more-independent Cameron. (Even if I couldn't help remembering something from Lois McMaster Bujold's Barrayar, where Cordelia reflects on the fact that if she'd wanted a happy life she should have married a happy man, instead of falling for the overwhelming beauty of pain . . . or something like that. I wonder when Cameron's going to realize just how screwed up Chase is inside and begin to like him just a little bit?)
