Turning 46 (officially able to say I'm in my "late 40's" now) hasn't been too traumatic, so far.
First, I got an honest-to-goodness Birthday present from
missmurchsion yestereday, through the good graces of Amazon (4th season of "Lois & Clark", which I happened to thoroughly enjoy -- Thanks, Miss M!), and even had half a birthday celebration with cookies and coffee cakes at work on Wednesday (sharing the honors with a co-worker whose birthday is Jan. 12th, and who'd just gotten engaged, to boot).
Then, when I got to work earlier than I normally do, in order to make a special unit meeting this morning (the sort of meeting they only call when they're massively reorganizing the company), I discovered that yes, I'll still have a job after Feb. 1st. In fact, nobody else will be let go, though people's jobs will be switched around. I'll still have health insurance, which I'm realizing makes a big difference in my life.
And just now, having had to go to Amazon to look up the 13-digit ISBN numbers on some new books I'll need to order for authors and endorsers, I stumbled upon the fact that the DVD of Marc Singer as Petruchio in the 1976 San Francisco stage version of "The Taming of the Shrew" is available at a very reasonable price on DVD. http://www.amazon.com/Taming-Shrew-Broadway-Theatre-Archive/dp/B00006G8HO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1200675346&sr=8-3 So, I ordered one for myself as a super-surprise birthday present from me to me (shhh! don't tell me what I'm getting myself!)
