I'm disappointed -- I guess my answers didn't fall too neatly into any clear categories, but I dimly recall not especially liking this Companion when I was watching 4th doctor re-runs on Public Television in the late 1970's:

You are Romana I. Smart and feisty, you can take care of yourself in most dangerous situations, and perhaps provide some wit to boot. Yet you are not one to dote on the Doctor or hang on his every word, since you're smart enough to know that at least some of his words are wrong. You're also not fond of doing The Doctor's dirty work for him. Given time and patience, The Doctor may eventually grow to enjoy your company. In the meantime, however, he'll probably just be annoyed that you continually contradict him and refuse to do things his way.

Take the 'Which Dr. Who Companion Are You?' Quiz

It would have been so much more fun to be Leela, if I had to be any companion from that period!

Oh, well.

But you're smart and feisty! Perfect match.

Oh, I liked her! It was Romana II I didn't care for.

Smart and feisty and one step ahead of the Doctor half the time sounds just about right actually. :)

I do remember that I was disappointed when she re-generated and was played by Lala Ward, so maybe I need to review the episodes in which Romana I appeared.

And btw, thank you for the compliment!

I recently re-watched the whole Key to Time series and I liked her much better this time around. She was smart and wasn't about to let the Doctor push her around even though he was older and more experienced. As the series progressed, you could see their mutual respect growing, so it was easy to accept that when she regenerated as a more playful personality, they would be ready to really enjoy the rest of their adventures together.

Great icon!

But you're right, I'm probably remembering Romana I poorly, since I haven't had a chance to re-view those episodes in the last 30+ years, and I HOPE my perspectives and tastes have changed a bit in the meantime!

The icon source is here:

I see the icon set is off-line at the moment, but I have several if you'd like to snag them. Since she's made them herself and had them on-line, I'm sure that's okay as long as you credit her in the icon name.
