Just wasting time until the holy hour comes 'round at last, here are a few really rotten and inane limericks related to AtS/BtVS. [new icon added courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] behindblue_eyes]

The inane . . .

Angel's misdeeds were gruesome and scary,
And his love-life is currently 'hairy',
But his talent for guilt
Over blood that's been spilt
Doesn't stop him from trying to sing ‘Barry.’
[Manilow, that is]

The slightly slashy . . .

Angel's passion for Spike is so grievous,
That old softy just cannot deceive us!
Though the gruffness and jibes
Try to hide lustful vibes,
We know this ain't 'Butthead and Beavis'!

Or, in honor of [livejournal.com profile] missmurchison’s SpikeCary community and fanfic challenge, . . .

Cary Grant had looks, charm, and humor,
(and Sophia Loren, goes the rumor!).
But with his forehead so smooth,
and no fang for his tooth . . .
Perhaps he was just a late-bloomer?

And two limericks which are loosely based on and slightly spoilery in relation to AtS 5.18 "Origin" (one playing off of something Illyria said, and one dealing with the idea that being attracted to older women is something that transcends mere memory and experience).

“I'd like to keep Spike as my pet,"
Said the chick in the leather corset.
But “She must stand in line,”
Warn the fans feminine,
“Or her rudeness we'll make her regret!”

There once was a hero named Connor.
His father he just couldn’t honor.
But his love for his ‘mom’
Had the strength of a bomb,
And for older gals, he’s still a goner.
Mood:: 'ditzy' ditzy

These are all hilarious, but I especially adore the last one.

And please post the Cary one on the community!

As for posting to the SpikeCary community, I would if I knew how (or wasn't too tired tonight to read the directions) -- feel free to post it yourself, if you get to it before me. Or I'll take another crack at updating and catching up with the LJ world tomorrow (have to be back on campus to proctor an exam at noon, anyway, so might as well do something I enjoy while I'm here!).

Why haven't more people commented on this? Love them all, and you've just reminded me of my desire to find an icon of Illyria and Spike - "I want to keep him as my pet." Hee!

Thanks so much for the positive feedback! As to the lack of comments, I posted these not long before the new "Angel" aired Wednesday evening, so it's no wonder that people have been more interested in talking about that (at least I assume they have -- I've been avoiding reading anyone else's journal entries, until I finish my own on "Time Bomb", lest I become discouraged and feel that all the good stuff has already been said, so why bother?). Besides, until I logged in and edited this entry today, I had ALL of the limericks hidden behind individual cut-tags, so it's not much wonder that most folks didn't bother to click on them.

If you find a good Spike-Illyria icon, please let me know! I've been looking for one of those myself.
