I unpacked my new Dell laptop from Amazon.com today (and spent way too many hours getting it fully set up and functioning), so to celebrate the fact that I have internet access at home for the first time in over 6 weeks I decided to belatedly pick up the TV on DVD meme.

TV shows I own on DVD:

Andromeda 2.2 (4 episodes, including "Into the Labyrinth" guest-starring James Marsters as Charlemagne Bolivar)

Angel complete seasons 1, 4, and 5

may not qualify, but...Babylon 5: Lost Tales (it's the only B5 DVD I own)

Blackadder: Back and Forth

Blood Ties seasons 1 and 2 (really two parts of a single season for another show that suffered an untimely demise)

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer: "Spike: Love is Hell", plus complete seasons 3 through 7

The Champions set 1 (first half of the entire 1960-something series)

Daniel Boone season 2 (what can I say? I had a major thing for 'Mingo' at one point, when TV Land was airing these old 1950's episodes)

Doctor Who new series 1 (9th Doctor)

Enterprise season 4 (just when it was starting to get pretty darn good)

Firefly (and yes, I own both the initial widescreen Serenity DVD and the special collector's edition, thanks to a recent Christmas/birthday gift from [livejournal.com profile] missmurchison!)

The Flash

Gargoyles
season 2, volume 1 (yes, I'm a not-very-closeted Goliath/Elisa 'shipper -- you wanna make something of it?)

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys season 5

Highlander seasons 2, 4, 5, and 6

Justice League: Starcrossed

Justice League Unlimited season 2

Lois and Clark seasons 1 through 4 (entire series)

Moonlighting seasons 1 and 2

may not qualify, again, but...Stargate: Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum (the only Stargate: SG1 DVDs I own)

Star Trek: the Animated Series

Star Trek
collection: "Alternate Realities" (mixture of episodes from several ST series)

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine seasons 3, 5, 6, and 7

Total Recall 2070 "Machine Dreams" (pilot)

The Vicar of Dibley: "The Divine Collection" and "A Holy Wholly Happy Ending"

Voyagers! -- Hey, Jon-Erik Hexum was really cute as time-traveler and accidental foster father Phineas Bogg, even if the historical inaccuracies were sometimes cringe-worthy (large plate-glass window panes available for Houdini-style illusions during the Salem witch trials? What, are you kidding me?)!

Xena: Warrior Princess seasons 3, 5, and 6

And I know it's not part of the meme, but I have to include my commercial VHS collection, since these tapes are the reason why I haven't been able to bring myself to buy some of those same episodes/seasons on DVD:

The Black Adder, Blackadder II, Blackadder the Third, Blackadder Goes Forth

Blake's 7 tapes #10 through 14

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer half of season 1 ("Welcome to the Helmouth," "The Harvest", "The Witch", "Never Kill a Boy on the First Date," "Angel", "Puppet Show")

Dorothy Sayers Mysteries box set (Edward Petherbridge as Peter Wimsey in "Strong Poison," "Have His Carcass," "Gaudy Night")

The Flash two-hour pilot

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys "The Xena Trilogy" (the first-season H:TLJ episodes that led to the spin-off series X:WP)

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Remington Steele
Collector's Edition (edpisodes 47-48, 52-53, 60, 64, 67-68, 71, 82 -- from seasons 2 and 3)

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes 51, 56, 70-72, 73-75, 86, 88, 93, 95, 97, 101-103, 105, 107-109, 111, 115-118, 121-123 (which is why I didn't buy the season 4 DVD's)

Xena: Warrior Princess all of season 1 in a box set

Good thing I bought at least half of these DVD's and tapes used, or I'd feel even guiltier about the investment they represent!

Blackadder! One of the greatest comedies to exist and probably my favourite Rowan Aktinson role.

And Moonlighting... such a good show. And my favourite Bruce Willis role.

Ditto to both (especially loved Atkinson in BlackAdder II, looking so rakish in his Elizabethan garb, and though I loved Unbreakable as a movie and have a slight fondness for the first 3 Die Hard films, there's no Bruce Willis role that's as endearing or as consistently entertaining and witty as Addison!).

I've got Blackadder on VHS as well. I chucked out 90% of my VHS tapes a couple of years ago, but I couldn't let that go.

What I don't have, however, is a functioning video tape player.

I dread the day when my current VCR gives up the ghost (I'm hoping that will be a few years from now, since I'm no longer using it to record everything I'm not home to watch -- instead, I use it for 'permanent' storage of things I want to keep for a while but need to erase from my DVR's oh-so-limited storage capacity), but for now I've got a working VCR downstairs and an old VCR upstairs that still plays fine but doesn't record anymore.

I guess I need to get used to the idea of someday having to invest in a DVD-player that also records, once the VCR's give out!

The longer you wait the cheaper it will be. ;D
