I just read a story by [livejournal.com profile] dhark_charlotte that was posted last December as part of a crossover fic exchange, so if you're a fan of the BBCA's "Being Human" as well as "Serenity"/"Firefly" and haven't already read Wolves in the Black, I strongly suggest that you do so.

No explicit pairings at all, except that it's post-BDM and Zoe's mourning Wash while Kaylee and Simon are kind of an item and there's some kind of vibe between Inara and Mal. No mention of whether River or Jayne is seeing anyone at all, and since it's told from the POV of the "Being Human" werewolf George, who's coming on board Serenity as an outsider with some pretty valid concerns for hiding his own secrets, George doesn't try to look beneath the surface much on his first exposure to the crew.

So it won't offend your Rayne-ish sensibilities, but it certainly won't give you a 'fix' of Rayne-y goodness, either.

Thanks so much for the Rec! This was pretty fun to write. The prompt actually inspired two different versions, but the second one has stalled in the face of my pregnancy. Hoping to revive my muse soon.
