I really, really need to get to bed and try to get 8 hours of sleep before going back to work tomorrow morning, but I wanted to post a short note, at least, saying that I finally got around to seeing the movie "Thor" this afternoon (I caught a 1:30 PM showing at a multiplex just down the road from the church I was preaching at, having just enough time to drive over there after the second worship service let out at 1:10), and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

And yes, I did stay all the way through the end of the credits, so I could see that little extra scene that they seem to include at the end of all the Marvel movies these days, so I'm even more psyched up for the next film about Thor and the rest of the Avengers.

I highly recommend the film and will post some coherent thoughts about it (I hope!) tomorrow.

I hope to see this movie eventually. It will probably be after Godspeel though.

I loved it too. Now I feel all tenderly toward Thor. :D

I know! I never expected that, since Thor wasn't one of the Marvel characters I'd read or seen much.

And I was underwhelmed by the semi-horrible "Incredible Hulk" TV movie that guest-starred "Thor" and an annoying nebbishy alter-ego, which was my first exposure to Thor as a Marvel character.

But now I really want to see more of this humbled, self-sacrificed, and resurrected Thor (as I told a church member I met coming out of the movie yesterday, "That'll preach!").

And I even have a surprising amount of sympathy for Loki, since he just wants his family to love him and admire him as much as they do his brother, and he can't seem to help going about getting that love in the most dysfunctional possible way.

I too fund Loki's characterization marvelous. And what an actor!

I've been kind of "meh" about Thor, but you've convinced me to check it out. Fortunately, I have some time this week!

I liked it a lot better than "Iron Man 2" (which I enjoyed but wasn't wild about), and MUCH better than I'd expected to. I guess I should've had more faith in a production team that included Kenneth Branagh directing and Babylon 5's J. Michael Straczynski co-writing the story.
