You have caught Simon's voice very nicely and he definitely shows more restraint in his digs at Jayne that maturity would grant him. :) I do wonder what Jayne would say if he was listening in.

I imagine Jayne was listening in, but River kept him from doing anything to interrupt or get back at Simon during the story (that'll be her job, later on -- after all, his IS her brother, and she can't let him get away with all of those digs!).
And I got the hamster bit from 'Jaynestown' (sort of!), where Simon was complaining to Kaylee that he'd once saved a girl's leg, as a surgeon, and she'd only named her hamster after him in thanks.
