revdorothyl: missmurchsion made this (Older Woman)

[livejournal.com profile] missmurchison suggested calling this 'Bunny Profundity', but it's basically just a follow-up on last night's post about Winnicott, transitional objects, and fanfic, taken to the ridiculous logical conclusion.

MissM: ...The Velveteen Rabbit will make me think of Anya and bunnies now.

RevDorothy: Well, in a way, her fear of bunnies is one of the things that helps to make Anya 'real'. The bunny disturbs her and reveals that she has irrational fears like other humans.

And since bunnies once were loved but somehow became hated, they do sort of function as transitional objects for her. After all, your 'woobie' has to take your hating as well as your loving, if it's to become real to you and you are to become real to the world.

MissM: Exactly! I knew there was a way to make the bunnies profound. There's a follow-up post for you.

So, that's about as profound as I'm capable of being tonight on Anya and bunnies and transitional objects and The Velveteen Rabbit.

Time to get some supper, since I skipped lunch.
