MissM: ...The Velveteen Rabbit will make me think of Anya and bunnies now.
RevDorothy: Well, in a way, her fear of bunnies is one of the things that helps to make Anya 'real'. The bunny disturbs her and reveals that she has irrational fears like other humans.
And since bunnies once were loved but somehow became hated, they do sort of function as transitional objects for her. After all, your 'woobie' has to take your hating as well as your loving, if it's to become real to you and you are to become real to the world.
MissM: Exactly! I knew there was a way to make the bunnies profound. There's a follow-up post for you.
So, that's about as profound as I'm capable of being tonight on Anya and bunnies and transitional objects and The Velveteen Rabbit.
Time to get some supper, since I skipped lunch.
Hi there :-)
Would you mind if I put you on my friends list?
Greetings, Bimo

Re: Hi there :-)
You are welcome to friend me any time :-)
my favorite ST series, DS9.
*sighs nostalgically*
Oh yes, DS9 really was a good one. When the show came out in the mid-nineties, I followed it with a passion, but after about five seasons, my tape source rain dry and waiting till German TV aired the remaining episodes wasn't really an option (irregular broadcasting schedule, extremely bad dubbing). So I more or less abandoned it and concentrated on other series instead.
But now, with Angel being cancelled and not many other promising genre shows in sight, the idea of re-watching DS9 right from the start to fill out the huge gap in my personal TV schedule, sounds better every day ;-)
Re: Hi there :-)
But then those reruns dried up in my cable area, without ever having rerun those last two seasons (when so MANY interesting things happen and when some of the most complex storylines and character developments were seen).
Upshot is, I've had to break down and buy the DS9 season 6 and season 7 DVD's (and also bought season 3, because I found it at half price) -- so now I'm trying to ease my BtVS and AtS withdrawal symptoms by rationing out my viewing of the BtVS season 6 DVDs and DS9 seasons 6 and 7.
If you don't have a tape or broadcast source available, you might want to consider investing in the DS9 DVD's for the seasons you haven't seen.
