revdorothyl: missmurchsion made this (With Beer)

I drank way more Merlot than I'd intended (it was the 1.5 liter size, and though I didn't finish it I DID drink more than my fair share of the 2/3 of the bottle we disposed of tonight), so this post may be a little loopy, but I did want to say that [livejournal.com profile] keswindhover and [livejournal.com profile] jwaneeta finally made it to Nashville around 3:30 this afternoon in time to squeeze in a whirlwind tour of our life-size replica of the Parthenon (with the giant statue of Athena Parthenos now painted and gilded in order to more accurately represent what they think the original was supposed to look like) and the Rembrandt exhibit and the first-Saturday-of-the-month architecture tour at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts (formerly an Art Deco Post Office building constructed during the early years of the Great Depression), before dining out for supper and retiring to my den of iniquitous housekeeping to enjoy an evening of Doctor Who (the new episode) and DVR'd Big Bang Theory episodes from the past couple of months (the recent episodes are much funnier if you're drunk when you watch them, I discovered!).

They have to hit the highway on their way to Gatlinburg for the next leg of their vacation journey tomorrow afternoon, but at least I'll be able to enjoy lunch with them after I finish preaching tomorrow morning.

All in all, it's been a splendid day for me (since I didn't have to drive through downpours and road construction all the way from St. Louis this morning and afternoon!). :)

And a delightful evening it was. We could have used more time at the Parthenon and the Frist, but apparently it is road works season.

Thanks very much for the hospitality!

Indeed! It was shorter than we'd hoped (their original ETA in Nashville was around noon, with plenty of time to enjoy both attractions, but the Illinois highway department decided otherwise), but still very enjoyable.
