revdorothyl: missmurchsion made this (Harm's Way)
I don't think this is really spoilerish for last Friday's premiere, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

random thoughts about Cylons and their parental issues )

I'm probably talking through my hat, and no doubt events in the coming episodes will completely explode this hypothesis, but for right now, I cannot erase the thought that, no matter how smart and 'mature' they think they are, the human-model Cylons are -- for the most part -- acting and reacting like children who are enraged by the lack of reliable parenting in their past and just don't know how to handle it.

My other wild impression that I can't quite logically validate or justify at this point, came after watching about the first seven episodes from season 2 of Dr. Who on [livejournal.com profile] missmurchison's laptop after WriterCon this summer: it seemed to me that the keynote of most of the episodes I'd seen had to do with "touching" should be vague enough not to be spoilerish, but just in case . . . )

I need to go back to grading exams, now, because my midterm grades are all due by Friday afternoon and I'm less than halfway done with my piles of essay exams, but I just wanted to get that off my chest. Again, I'm not sure how well that impression/hypothesis will hold up, once I've finally taken time to watch the whole of season 2, but maybe I'll sleep better tonight, with one less niggling theory chasing around my head searching for a way out into the world.

I just checked the movie listings for this coming week and saw that three of our local multiplex theaters will be showing something called "One Night With the King" October 13-19.

This being Tennessee, I naturally assumed it was Elvis-related, but nope! Turns out it's a movie based on the biblical book of Esther, with -- wait for it! -- James Callis in the role of Haman, the arch-villain.

I may have to see that one. Besides, the credits also list Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif, and I hate to miss an opportunity to see them on screen.
