Well, I KNEW I was pretty out of things, and this just confirms it! I had seen Ebert's review on TV, but Roeper loved "The Village" (of course, between the two of them, I more often agree with Ebert than Roeper -- but Ebert frequently fails to get the deeper significance of movies I find more or less profound, like "X-Men" or "The Chronicles of Riddick"), and that's all I knew of the critics.

Then, the four people I knew who'd seen the film all recommended it to me for different reasons. But it's been weeks since I caught up on the LJ discussions, so sorry for speaking so blithely, without knowing in which direction the prevailing winds really had been blowing!

I'll go read your entry, now, and stop talking through my hat! *rueful grin*

Heh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as scolding. I've just been cowering in the corner of Village liking for weeks, so I'm clinging to you with more than my usual tenacity.

Oh, cling away, by all means! Having read some of the rather passionate comments made in response to your LJ post on "The Village," I can see what you mean about being in the minority.

However, I loved what you had to say about the film. So there.

Mind if I cling back, now and then?

(P.S. -- on a mostly unrelated topic -- I couldn't resist snabbling up a copy of [livejournal.com profile] missmurchison's 'three dead gay guys' icon for myself. It's so comforting to find other minds that work like mine!)
