revdorothyl at 04:50pm on 25/01/2006My sister called yesterday to to ask if I'd remembered to open her card on my birthday last week (she'd given me my birthday present and card while I was home for Christmas, and I'd accidentally opened the gift already, but had been saving the card).
I had completely forgotten about the unopened card, of course, but when I hurriedly pulled it out and opened it, while sister was on the phone, I was delighted to find that it was a cut-out of Jane Austen, with several suitable quotes stuck on the inside, and a sheet full of additional quote stickers, as well.

Now, I'm trying to think of which of my friends is having a birthday next, so I'll have an excuse to buy the "Freudian Slippers" for someone!
Meanwhile, for anyone who gets Turner Classic Movies on their cable TV (I don't, but the rest of my family does), I see that the rare 1940 movie version of Dorothy L. Sayers' Busman's Honeymoon (confusingly titled "Haunted Honeymoon", and never to be mistaken for the late Gilda Radner 'comedy' film of the same name) is being shown on TCM at about 8:45 AM (Central) on Jan. 31st.
This is apparently the only time they'll be showing this film for the foreseeable future, so I've begged my doting sister to tape it for me, as a Valentine's Day "surprise", and she has kindly agreed (on condition that I call her the night before to remind her). It may or may not be a good film depiction of Lord Peter Wimsey, but I've got to seize the opportunity to see for myself.

My sister didn't set her VCR for the correct times, so she cut off the last 15 minutes of the film yesterday morning, but I told her to go ahead and save it for me anyway, just for the heck of it.
