That's what my advisor suggested when I begged him for deadlines and accountability to help me overcome my self-doubt-generated procrastination: that I email him and the rest of the committee 40 pages of the dissertation draft every five weeks, in order to (hopefully) be able to put a defensible draft before the department 7 months from now.
Now, I just have to go home and DO it!

You should be just finishing up around Writercon, which means we can do some celebrating of how far you've come.

And I really need deadlines, now, since I've been feeling so low that only fear of public humiliation is likely to motivate me (haven't felt any hope for rewards or approval of my work, lately).
that's doable, you know
Think of it as what it is, which is, 1 page a day. Or 2 pages a day 4 days a week, and take long weekends off. 2 pages a day you can really do.
