Randomness Abounding
I've been deep in a pile of undergraduate Bible papers (half of which managed never to cite even a single Bible verse or passage -- argh!), so I only just now caught up with the fact that I'd been tagged by
missmurchison for the "6 Random Facts" thingie:
Write a journal entry with six random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends list and tag them - no tag backs. These rules should be included in your entry.
So, here goes:
1) My first pet was a cat named "Puss-Puss" (because we were uncertain of the gender of this kitten we found in the alley behind our house in Queens), and he grew up to be a tiny tomcat who chased huge dogs for fun and never, ever backed down from a fight with any other animal on his turf.
2) I was bald for my first year of life.
3) I do math and logic puzzles for relaxation in "the powder room".
4) I am terrified by public speaking, parties, and almost any situation where I will be around other people -- at least until I figure out what role I'm supposed to be playing.
5) I am a terrible cheapskate when it comes to procuring Christmas and birthday gifts for others.
6) I still miss my grandfather, who died just after Thanksgiving in 1984.
If any of the following friends have already been tagged by someone else, feel free to ignore this tagging:
keswindhover,
mandylancast,
appomattoxco,
gobi_rex,
spiralleds, and
valarltd.

I used to joke about my grandmother's affinity for re-gifting, and I'm beginning to notice that I'm turning into one myself. What, it's recycling and finding better homes for gifts that would otherwise be neglected!

I recently read a book A short history of tractors in Ukrainian (it's a story about a Ukrainian immigrant family living in England). At one point, a stray cat walks into the main characters' lives. They can't determine its gender, but can't resist and name it "Princess Di" It turns out to be a boy.
