I'm sick. I'm not ignoring you.

Just a brief note to say that there's a perfectly good reason why I haven't gotten back to you over the past week and a half, in case I owe you a comment, a 'thanks', or any other communication:

My office is a hot-bed of the flu that's going around (the one which our flu shots last fall apparently didn't envision), and now I'm finally too sick to hide it any longer.

I'm going home, now, to try and get some sleep. Hope you're all keeping well, if you can!

Thanks! This creeping crud (or whatever it is) just seems to want to hang on forever in the chest (lots of juicy, gravelly coughing being heard around the office, especially among those of us who are supposedly 'getting better'!).

Uh . . . well . . . you see, it's like this . . . . Um . . .

Oh, well: what can I say? I kept thinking I'd feel better tomorrow, so why wait until then, especially when I don't yet have enough sick hours accrued to make sure I get paid if I stay home?

I've been a ba-a-a-ad patient! And I'm paying for it now with a cough and a congested chest that just won't go away.
