Woo. I was going to reply to that comment, but I'll just reply here instead!

I was laughing at JMS and his begats. Heh heh heh. Mmm, story-arc goodness. I was raised like the Flanders kids on The Simpsons, so we didn't watch much tv and I didn't have a tv habit going into adulthood. Still don't, really. So I missed most of the stuff you describe. I actually started watching tv with Babylon 5. It sucked me in and I couldn't get enough. I'm catching up on Farscape now, and besides all the Joss stuff I've turned an idle eye to things like Alias, but I still have lots of historical viewing to catch up on.

Babylon 5 still holds up really well. I wonder how many of those series do.

Not many. I still watch re-runs of "Starman" when I have a chance, but that's partly nostalgia for where I was in my life in 1986. That's actually the case with a lot of those shows, I think -- they're like my personal time capsules, reminders of times past and the feelings and hopes, etc., that went with those times. However, occasionally you find some gems hidden among them, even just individual episodes that stand out, that have something more to offer.
But B5 DOES hold up -- as does BtVS and a lot of AtS.
