A friend just forwarded this to me, and I thought it was worth sharing:

Al Gore Places Infant Son in Rocket to Escape Dying Planet

Enjoy!

You're most welcome! (That was something Denny forwarded to me -- right after a link to a video of Tom Lehrer singing a riff on his "New Math" song for the British currency conversion to the metric system, way back when. More often than not, he sends interesting stuff my way.)

I miss my FL sci fi friends.

I also miss Tom Lehrer. Darn him for wanting to get a real job.

Did you ever get the SF Readers' Group mailing list updated to your correct, current address? (Last time I checked, you were on the list, but they were still using the old email address.) That way, if you're ever inspired to attend the group, at least you know where and when it is.

I miss having RL friends -- local ones, I mean -- in general. And yes, I know it's mostly my fault for not wanting to make the effort to go out and make new friends to 'replace' the ones who've moved away or with whom I've completely lost touch, in some cases.

But then, my online friends and email correspondence friends are just so darn easy to talk to! It makes me even more reluctant to go through the slow, time-consuming, effort-requiring process of getting to know people whose fanfic I've never read (or who may not be fans of anything at all!).

Heh. My laughter was tinged with grief, but I did laugh. :}

It's definitely got that laugh/cry thing going for it!

that's a disturbingly appropriate image.

I know, eh? Can't decide whether I'm more inclined to laugh or cry at this piece and what it says about the plight of our planet.
