I'm typing one-handed today, having slipped on a patch of mud next to the flagstone path between my house and my neighbor's, yesterday AM, while taking the trash and recycling containers back to their place.
I knew my right arm wasn't right as soon as I fell, and it hurt enough for me to spend the $150 deductible to go to the emergency room at nearest hospital (only would have been $50 deductible if I'd found an "urgent care" facility to take x-rays, instead, which I'll remember for next time . . . I hope).
They found what looked like an OLD fracture in my wrist (I never knew I'd broken it before, and they said it might be newer than it appeared), but they put me in a plaster splint to immobilize my thumb, wrist, and forearm, to be on safe side.
I'm supposed to see orthopedic specialist in two weeks, for follow-up x-rays (sometimes fractures to wrist bones don't show up until later, they said), and then we'll see if I can lose this cast, or replace it with a fiberglass one for the longer haul. No fun, but pain's not too bad if I keep right arm elevated above heart and immobile, and I CAN work today . . . very, very slowly.
Tail-bone hurts much worse when I stand and walk, so must've cracked it when I fell in mud -- didn't know I might've done damage to more than just the seat of my linen pants until I was walking out of the emergency room yesterday, and by then I just wanted to go home and put ice on my wrist (didn't even stop to fill prescription for knock-me-out pain-killer they'd given, though I might've slept better last night if I had!).
I learned today that I have a week's worth of "emergency" leave accumulated, so I used that to cover yesterday's absence, and can stay home a day or two next week, if I need to or feel too rough (or just can't face trying to fasten bra and do up my hair one-handed, again).
SO glad I have a visit with MissM in Iowa to look forward to in a liitle over a month from now!

Poor one handed Lori. If I was there, I'd hook up your bra for you, no probs - and take it off for you as well. And you have a literal pain in the ass as well.
I am very jealous of your visit to Miss M.
*wishes you better, and your wrist unbroken*

*looks pathetic*
I wish you could be here, as well (and not just for the delightful offer of help in the boudoir -- though the thought of that brings a smile to my face!
The three of us together? Iowa would never be the same afterwards!

And yes, Iowa would tremble at our passing. *heaves sigh at what might have been*

If I might make a suggestion: have your eyes examined. Two years ago, I fell in October, then in April...turns out my optic prescription had changed - a lot - and I needed new contact lenses!

Rest up and enjoy your upcoming trip. You and MissM are going to have a wonderful time.

Hope you're feeling better soon!
