I sometimes come up INFP ("the mystic"), and the longer my PhD studies drag on, the more convinced I am that that may be the case (an eternal seeker, who never feels she's gathered enough data to actually WRITE the dissertation)!

Amen. As the crowd in Monty Python's "Life of Brian" shouted in unison (in response to Brian's exhortation to stop following him and instead think for themselves), "Yes! We are all individuals! We are all unique!" Or something like that -- it's been a while since I've seen that movie.
