My sister just emailed me that Brett Ratner's edited-down version of "Kites" is only 90 minutes long and won't be released until next week, so the two-hour-plus version I saw yesterday was the whole megillah.
According to this New York Times review of 'KITES', this film was always intended to be a crossover with much less singing and dancing and many more car chases and explosions, but the version I saw included the full array of soulful close-ups and incredibly lithe dance moves featuring Hrithik Roshan, so I'm happy and relieved!

I hope this isn't a new trend, of only non-musical Bollywood films being shown in U.S. multiplexes. I mean, I was so pleased to see "My Name is Khan" playing just ten minutes' drive from my house, and now "Kites", but neither of those films included production numbers (though in the case of "Khan" I thought that was entirely appropriate, given the subject matter).
Oh, well -- at least I get to see Hrithik Roshan and Shahrukh Khan on the big screen without having to drive to another city!
