". . . You killed my father. Prepare to die."
Yes, I enjoyed the premiere last night (though I didn't love it, and there were parts of the dialogue that seemed fairly cringe-worthy, like Steve McGarrett of course having broken all of Chin Ho Kelly's football records as quarterback in High School, because obviously the tall pale-skinned guy has to be the best at everything . . .). However, my main gripe was that there simply wasn't nearly enough James Marsters screen time.
Yes, as a connoisseur of vampire detective shows of all sorts, I enjoyed watching "Spike" beat the heck out of "Mick St. John", but if Victor Hesse (Marsters) doesn't make a return appearance as the baddie/nemesis in future episodes then it'll all be a giant rip-off, from my perspective.

And yeah, I like the idea of "Danno" as a mature police officer, rather than the fresh-faced kid I vaguely remember James MacArthur's character being (they've let Grace Park take over the fresh-faced, inexperienced kid role, along with the 'eye candy', 'bait', and 'everybody's baby sister' roles -- or at least that was my initial impression), but it would've made so much more sense for Chin Ho Kelly to be the automatic 2IC, given his greater experience in policing the islands and his more personal stake in what happened to Steve's dad as well as in uncovering police corruption. They're going to have to work on their multi-culturalism 'street cred'.

I liked the show well enough, and the character interaction was really growing on me by the end, so I'm planning to keep on recording and watching . . . as long as they don't just drop all the loose ends they left dangling in this episode (which I'm sure they won't, or else why introduce stuff like the father's unfinished investigation into police corruption, etc.?). A season-long story arc will keep me coming back for more.
