Actually, I should've said that "Signs" is the only one of his films that I've NEVER seen, so I can't respond to that (however, the fact that I found the way it was marketed off-putting enough to never, ever get around to seeing it, all these years later, probably does mean something). I need to amend that post to read "compared to "Sixth Sense," "Unbreakable", and "The Village".

But yes, I think you might have fun watching this. There are some incredibly stupid people, at times, but only in the way that sometimes people are incredibly dense, at times (though they smarten up and step up to the plate when most needed, for the most part). However, if you remember that the whole thing is set up around a myth that's told as a bedtime story, then I think you'll get the spirit of it.

So, I gather you think I should continue to give "Signs" a miss?

Well... a lot of people loved it. And the first part is excellent. My dislike stems from two things: One, the aliens are colossally stupid. Two, I think he fatally undermined the point he was trying to make about faith by having the aliens be incontrovertably real.
